Enjoy a little frugal fun this Halloween by “boo-ing” your neighbors. A few sweet treats and a you’ve been booed printable PDF are all you need to get in the spirit of the season. (Get it, “spirit?” 😉 ) Choose from three printable you’ve been booed templates below!
Fall is in the air! And that means, if you count Halloween as the start, we’re essentially entering the holiday season. No, it’s true. 😱 Deep breaths!
One thing I love about the holidays (and yes, I count Halloween!) is that they give you the chance to come together and do things with other people, whether it’s your family, friends, neighbors, or community. There are lots of opportunities to spread cheer and kindness … and of course food. One way you can get your whole neighborhood into the spooky spirit is to “boo” them.
Warning: “Boo-ing” does not mean hiding behind trees, parked cars, etc. and jumping out at your neighbors. 👻 Don’t do that!
So what is “boo-ing?” Glad you asked! It’s secretly passing along treats or possibly even little Halloween decorations to your neighbors and asking them to pay it forward. Once you’ve been “booed” you put up a sign so that the people paying it forward don’t re-boo you. I’ll go into more detail in the next section, but you use the boo printables in this post so that the person that has been “booed” knows what to do.
Note: These are not you’ve been booed free printables; rather, they are frugal and available in the shop. However, I think you’ll find that they’re a fun family fall tradition and worth the little bit of cost. 🙂
Using You’ve Been Booed Printables
Don’t worry, even though these aren’t you’ve been booed free printables, this is not a holiday tradition that’ll break your budget. Here’s what you do….
Step 1: Purchase the you’ve been booed printables from the Freebie Finding Mom shop.
Step 2: Decide how many neighbors you want to “boo.” I recommend only two; remember, if you hit everyone how can other people get in on this fun activity? Once you’ve decided, print out the you’ve been booed printable black and white or color copies.
Step 3: Put together a sweet treat to deliver with your boo sign printable. This does not have to be anything crazy! In fact, it can be as simple as a few pieces of candy in a bag.
If you’re boo-ing a neighbor you’re really close to, you might want to do something a little extra or even a smidge personal. For example, you could have your kid tackle a craft project. (May I recommend these preschool Halloween crafts?) Or you could go for a Mason jar gift like:
- Pretzel Pumpkins – Okay, this doesn’t have to come in a Mason jar but it’s still a delicious fall themed snack!
You can give any of these a haunting twist by adding free printable Halloween decorations, like these free printable Halloween bottle labels.
Tip: Pick something your kid can help with! After all, you want him or her to be able to get in on the fun as well. 🙂
Step 4: Sneak over to the neighbor’s house and leave that sweet treat and printable you’ve been booed template someplace where they are sure to spot it!
Step 5: Weather permitting, take some fun fall walks with your kid and watch for those we’ve been booed printable signs to start popping up around the neighborhood! With any luck, you’ll be the recipient of a boo printable soon too!
Now, let’s take a look at your three you’ve been booed printable PDF options!

Does your neighbor have really young children who might find many of the traditional Halloween elements scary? If so, opt for this printable you’ve been booed template. It’s way more sweet than scary with grinning jack-o-lanterns filled with tasty treats!
