From goals to assignments, this 13-page student planner is just the thing to keep the school year on track!

There are many different ways to get organized, including calendars, electronic or online student planners, apps, bullet journals, and, of course, traditional paper student planners. And that’s just scratching the surface of the organizational iceberg. However, my favorite option is, you guessed it, a printable!
Why Use a Printable Student Planner (Vs. An Electronic Planner)
While any student planner is better than no organizational method at all 🫥, a printable does offer some unique benefits. Here are just a few of the reasons why you should opt for a printable student planner, rather than an electronic or app-based version:
- Physically picking up a writing utensil and checking boxes or crossing things off is simply way better than tapping a screen. Don’t believe it? According to a Harvard Business Review article, “Checking off tasks literally releases dopamine in our brains, a neurotransmitter that makes us feel light and happy.”
- Printables tend to be more flexible and customizable. For example, if you’re an adult student, you can combine the 13-page student planner with other printables, such as a meal planner, to get a product that fits your specific needs.
- Tip: Feeling stressed out or anxious about school? Add in printables that reduce stress, such as these back to school coloring pages and back to school word searches!
- You don’t need Internet access or cell phone coverage to use a printable student planner.
- This printable is affordable; no, it isn’t free, but there are also no recurring monthly payments or annoying ads. You pay once, and you own it forever!
Starting to see why I think a printable student planner is a great option? Let’s take a closer look at all of the awesome organizational tools included in this student planner printable….
What’s in the 13-page Student Planner?
Student Planner Cover
Okay, I guess technically, the cover of this student planner printable isn’t an organizational tool; however, I still think it’s worth calling out. Choose from three different covers. Each cover is colorful, which prevents it from being too stuffy or boring, but the abstract geometric background keeps the cover from being too childish.
Daily Planner Template
The daily planner template offers space for you to write down your:
- Top priorities for the day.
- Schedule by hour.
- To-do list.
- Assignments that are due.
- Notes.
Simply print multiple copies so you have one for each day. You can then write the date on the top.
Tip: There are approximately 180 days in the school year.
Study Planner Template
The study planner template is similar to the daily planner template, but with more of an emphasis on the academic work you need to do. It offers space for you to keep a class, study, and homework schedule as well as a list of subjects to focus on for the day.
You could print one sheet for each day, or you could print one for each subject and break things down that way.
Bonus: Looking for a little extra motivation? In the notes section of this student planner, write an inspirational quote that you can look at throughout the day to lift your spirits. Here are 32 first day of school quotes for teachers, students, and parents to get you started!
Weekly Planner Template
Sometimes zooming out and seeing an overview is helpful; otherwise, you may get lost in the minutia of the day-to-day. This weekly planner template allows you to do just that. It offers boxes for each school day, Monday through Friday, as well as boxes for different subjects. Note big things like grade-making assignments, exams, or presentations so you can, at a glance, see where to focus your attention for the week.
Tip: Print 35 or 36 copies of this template so that you have one for each week of the school year.
Weekly To Do List Template
There’s probably more on your student’s to-do list than strictly academic items. For example, your child may have extracurricular activities to manage, an after-school job or internship, or household chores. This weekly to do list template is a great place to keep track of those non-academic tasks as well as weekend to-dos.
Printable Class Schedule Template
The printable class schedule template is especially useful if you’re using this as a high school or college student planner and you have different classes on different days. This printable even has a “legend” of sorts at the bottom where you can write the location (for example, the room number) of each class.
Tip: Although there isn’t a specific field for this on the printable, it may also be helpful to include the teacher’s name and any contact information, such as an email address, on the legend. This will allow you to quickly reach out if needed.
Goal Tracker Template
Many student planners are solely focused on to-dos. One of the reasons I love this student planner is that it allows you to set and track goals, academic or otherwise. The goal tracker template is a great way to keep a running list of goals and the steps required to achieve them.
Bonus: Don’t have much experience with setting goals? Learn how to set back to school goals here.
Grade Tracker Template
I’ve never seen a planner app for students (like a mobile application) that allows you to track grades, but you will get that functionality with this printable planner! Simply include a grade tracker template. Consider printing a copy for each subject to make it easier to track your progress in each class.
Student Assignment Tracker Template
Keep a running list of assignments that are due by using the student assignment tracker template. This is a great place to keep track of assignments that are due in the future, such as those near the end of the semester, so you don’t forget about them. If you’re in college, you may be able to fill this out using the course syllabus that most professors give out at the beginning of the term.
Bonus: If this student planner is for younger kids who require Mom and Dad’s help to keep track of homework, you may also want to snag this free homework planner to hang on the fridge.
Student Planner Notes
Add as many note pages to your student planner as you’d like. These pages can be used for class notes, assignment notes, contact information for teachers and classmates, or any other purpose.
Student Planner Add-Ons
There are a lot of other printables you could add to this 13-page student planner. What you want or need will depend on what else is going on in your life, in addition to school. Here are just a few of my favorite organization printables to explore:
