Combining tracing and coloring, these frugal (not free) letter tracing worksheets PDF downloads provide both cognitive and mental benefits! Choose from 26 adorable letter tracing sheets, one for each letter of the alphabet.
ABC letter tracing pages are a time honored way to help kids build pre-writing skills. In fact, most of us probably remember using letter tracing sheets ourselves. The version I remember from my childhood wasn’t especially thrilling, so I tried to give traditional preschool letter tracing worksheets a makeover that took the fun factor and the learning factor up a notch.
These 26 frugal (not free) letter tracing worksheets are part of the massive 116-page letter worksheets bundle. (We’ll talk more about the letter bundle later in this post.) It’s probably obvious, but with 26 pages, there is a tracing sheet for each letter of the alphabet. Meaning there’s a sheet for tracing letter A, a sheet for tracing letter B, a sheet for tracing letter C, a sheet for tracing letter D, a sheet for tracing letter E, etc.
Each of the ABC letter tracing pages features the following:
- An uppercase and lowercase example of the letter.
- An adorable baby animal, which your kid can color.
- The animal’s name spelled out.
- Five opportunities to trace the letter in both uppercase and lowercase form.
So for example, for the worksheet for tracing letter B there’s:
- An example of the letter in uppercase and lowercase: “B” and “b.”
- A cuddly bear that your kid can color.
- The word “bear.”
- The opportunity for tracing letter “B” and tracing letter “b” five times (each).
Let’s take a closer look at these printable letter tracing worksheets as well as the cognitive and mental benefits your kid can reap by completing them….
Letter Tracing Worksheets for Tracing Letter A through Tracing Letter F
Each of the preschool letter tracing worksheets includes the opportunity to trace and color. So, for example, on the worksheet for tracing letter “C” your kid can color a cat as well as try tracing letter “C.” This tracing and coloring combo is where you get the extra bang for your buck. Tracing helps build:
- Fine motor skills.
- Pre-writing skills.
- Concentration and focus.
- Visual-spatial skills.
- Hand strength.
Coloring the animal on the tracing letter “D” worksheet (as well as all of the other pages) helps build many of those same skills but it also:
- Stimulates creativity.
- Encourages self-expression.
- Promotes relaxation.
Letter Tracing Worksheets for Tracing Letter G through Tracing Letter L
As mentioned above, coloring can also promote relaxation. (This is true for children as well as adults.) When your kid is relaxed he or she is more likely to retain information, and learning will be easier. In addition to these preschool letter tracing worksheets, other ABC related coloring opportunities include:
Plus, since your child is tracing letter “D,” tracing letter “E,” etc. he or she is reinforcing familiarity with the ABCs. That’s a lot of education packed into a single worksheet, right?
