If you’re teaching your kid his or her ABCs, whether you’re working on simple letter recognition or basic reading skills, you definitely want to incorporate the bubble letter W. This particular letter can be tricky (more on that in a minute), so make sure to go over it a few times, including different variations like a fancy letter W as well as lowercase and capital W bubble letters!

Fact: “W” is the only multi-syllable letter in the alphabet. (It has three syllables, to be exact.) However, that isn’t the only (or even the main) reason this letter can be tricky for kids. While it’s name (double-u) implies two “U”s pushed together, “W” (in bubble letter or otherwise) is most commonly written as two “V”s.
That can be pretty confusing for a kid who has just learned how to sing the alphabet song! That’s why, when I was helping my son learn his ABCs, I spent some extra time on W, including giving him bubble letter W coloring sheets and creating educational games, like flashcards, with lowercase and capital W bubble letters.
Many of the W in bubble letter styles I’m about to share with you can be used for educational purposes. However, they can also be used for more creative endeavors. For example, learning how to draw a bubble letter W can get you started with a modern form of calligraphy, allowing you to create art, invitations, décor, and much more!
