Homemade Olive Oil Soap: Rosemary & Lemon Olive Oil Soap Recipe
Looking for a rich, moisturizing soap that isn’t loaded with unnatural ingredients and will work wonders on your skin? Look no further. This homemade olive oil soap recipe offers all of that with just 5 ingredients. No, really. 🙂
In addition to moisturizing ingredients like goat’s milk and shea butter, this recipe for olive oil soap has rosemary and lemon essential oils. Rosemary essential oil is a natural astringent; in other words, it can make your pores look smaller and your skin appear tighter! It also can help prevent and clear up acne.
The lemon essential oil in this new olive oil soap provides additional hydration and can also help reduce the appearance of acne. Plus, according to Dr. Axe, it may help with skin conditions like rosacea.
Yes, this homemade olive oil soap can do all of that!
Tip: If acne is a concern, don’t stop at this homemade olive oil soap. Try this aloe and mint foaming face wash or this grapefruit face wash.
On top of all those awesome skin benefits, this homemade olive oil soap has a clean fresh scent that’s really refreshing. Personally, I like that it isn’t too floral or feminine so the whole family can use it.
Have a busy, hectic life? I hear ya! No worries, this homemade olive oil soap recipe is quick and easy. I can sum it up in 3 words: Melt, combine, cool. Yep, that’s all it takes to make this recipe for olive oil soap!
Tip: The ingredients listed below will make approximately 2 average size bars of olive oil soap. Double or even triple the recipe to make some fabulous homemade gifts!
If bar soap just isn’t your thing, that doesn’t mean you’re doomed to store-bought chemical laden products! Nope, you can make body wash at home or even shower jellies!
INGREDIENTS
¼ lb. goat’s milk soap base (about 4 squares)*
2 T. olive oil
2 T. shea butter
10 drops rosemary essential oil
5 drops lemon essential oil
Soap mold
*You can buy the soap base for this homemade olive oil soap recipe in several forms, but I prefer the pre-scored blocks because then you don’t need a scale and measuring is fast and easy.
DIRECTIONS
1. In a small saucepan, melt shea butter and goats milk soap base, stirring frequently.
2. Remove from heat, and stir in olive oil and essential oils.
3. Carefully pour mixture into the soap mold.
4. Allow soap to cool and harden for several hours.
Tip: To make your homemade olive oil soap last longer keep it dry when not in use.
