There are a lot of pros to welcoming a baby to your fam; unfortunately, saving money isn’t one of them. Here’s how to get free baby stuff by mail as well as other tips to save big on baby supplies!
Having a baby is a very rewarding experience. You’ve created a life … a little person that could grow up to do or be anything—the President of the United States, a movie star, an athlete, or a renowned physician that cures cancer. Seriously, the possibilities are endless.
Unfortunately, having a baby is also very expensive. From hospital bills to diapers, babies come with a BIG price tag. In fact, according to the Huffington Post, the average cost of raising a child for 18 years in the United States is over $245,000. Yikes!
And that $245,000 is for kids 18 and under … what about college students? Yep, that price will keep on climbing! But maybe this will help—here’s how to get free stuff for college students.
Okay, back to babies! Luckily, you can also get free baby stuff. And while there may be more free baby stuff for low-income families, I promise that anyone can find freebies for little ones. Here are some tips and tricks to get you started.
Bonus: Did you have twins or multiples? If so, you’re in luck! Here are freebies just for twins or multiples.
Brand (Like Huggies) Free Baby Stuff by Mail
If there are specific brands you prefer or simply brands you’d like to try before you buy, here’s how to get free baby stuff from them.
Turn to social media.
The first thing you can do to start getting free stuff for babies is to follow your preferred brands on social media channels, such as Facebook. Once you follow a brand, search their page for “free samples” or “free.” This will help you find posts related to giveaways or freebies. If that fails, you can also search for “coupons” or “discount codes.”
If you aren’t finding free baby stuff for new moms or free baby stuff for expecting mothers, reach out to the company by sending a direct message. Ask if they can provide any free sample baby stuff or coupons.
Contact the company through their website.
Let’s say you want Huggies free baby stuff. Head to the Huggies’ website and search the site for free samples or coupons. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, reach out to them and ask directly for Huggies free baby stuff by using the site’s contact form. Remember, the worst they can say is “no!”
Search the Internet for giveaways, discount codes, and free sample baby stuff.
A third way how to get free baby stuff by mail is to do a little Internet sleuthing. Head to Google (or your fav search engine) and search for giveaways, discount codes, or free sample baby stuff.
Warning: If you just search “free baby stuff near me” or “free stuff for babies,” you’re going to get back a lot of results. Now some of these will be legit sites for free baby stuff, but trust me, you’re going to have to comb through many non-applicable results. Save yourself time by searching for the specific brands or products you want!
Bonus: Babies aren’t the only ones that need freebies! Use these tips to get freebies for the whole fam by mail.
Free Baby Stuff Near Me
If you need bigger ticket items, like baby furniture or baby clothes, it can be tricky to get free baby stuff by mail, but don’t despair! Here’s how I’ve gotten free baby stuff near me in the past.
Facebook.
There are multiple ways you can snag free stuff for babies on Facebook. One option is to use the Facebook Marketplace. To read more about the Facebook Marketplace “free stuff” category, go here. The process is the same for baby stuff, you’ll just want to search for specific items or perhaps words like “baby” or “infant” once you’re in the free stuff category. 🙂
Note: If you get freebies via the Facebook Marketplace, they will most likely not be free baby stuff by mail. Since the “seller” is giving stuff away you will usually be required to go pick it up.
Another way how to get free baby stuff on Facebook is to ask! Post to your friends and family and ask if they can give you stuff they’re no longer using. If they don’t have what you need, ask them to share the post so it will reach a larger pool of people.
You can also join Facebook groups, both local groups, which will allow you to find free baby stuff near me, and parenting groups. Just be sure to adhere to any group guidelines when asking for freebies!
Craigslist.
Like Facebook, Craigslist has a free category. (It’s under the “for sale” section.) This can be another great way to get free baby stuff near me. To learn more about getting free stuff on Craigslist, go here.
Free Stuff for Babies: Community Resources
As already mentioned, there is more free baby stuff for low-income families. How you go about finding free baby stuff for low-income families will depend on where you live. Obviously, there are some federal resources, but there are likely a lot more options at the local level. Try checking local:
- Government departments.
- Charities and non-profits.
- Churches.
- Neighborhood groups.

How to Get Cheap (Not Free) Baby Clothes
One big expense when you have a baby is clothing. They grow so darn fast … and they can be pretty hard on clothes anyway. If your hunt for free baby stuff by mail doesn’t turn up good clothing options, try these tricks to at least save some money!
Online Consignment Shops
Browsing online consignment shops, such as ThredUp, is a great way to find name brand and stylish cheap baby clothes. Personally, I have ordered clothes for my son and myself numerous times from ThredUp, and I’ve always had a great experience. You can find gently used name brands starting at around $5.
Retail Stores
Don’t assume that all of the best cheap baby clothes are online. There are retailers who also offer great bargains. Two of my favorites are Carters and Target.
Carters is where I bought the vast majority of baby clothes for my son. I like them because:
- Their clothing is of high quality.
- Their sizing is consistent.
- Their clothing is stylish.
- They frequently issue coupons and offer free shipping online.
Be sure to sign up for their email list so you are notified of sales, free shipping offers, and valuable coupons.
Target also offers a wide selection of trendy, high-quality yet cheap baby clothes. Target is also a phenomenal place to establish a baby registry because they have all the baby supplies a mom could ask for including strollers, diapers, formula, and toys. It really is a one-stop-shop.
Amazon
When thinking about where to score cheap baby clothes, Amazon probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind. However, you’d be surprised at the great deals you can snag on cheap baby clothes from this online superstore.
In addition, Amazon is a great one-stop shop for baby supplies, and thanks to their “wish list” feature you can register online for all your baby needs.
Tip: You can also get free stuff from Amazon, here’s how!
