Do the holiday indulgences have you feeling sluggish and out of shape? Join the club! Every year I proclaim I will stay strong and resist temptation, but Grandma’s insanely delicious cherry delight recipe gets the best of me, not to mention the Christmas cookies, grasshopper pie, fudge, ok, you get the idea. I better stop, I am starting to get hungry! 🙂
Rather than begin 2016 feeling less than our best selves, why not jump start our health and fitness goals with the help of a free weight loss program? I have discovered three of the best free resources and provided their specifics below. Go ahead and evaluate each program and decide which one is right for you. Determine which one will motivate you, hold you accountable and help you achieve the body you want and deserve.
Free Weight Loss Programs
- My Fitness Pal: The first free weight loss program I’d like to introduce you to is My Fitness Pal. To get started, simply enter your current weight, goal weight, height, gender, date of birth and a few other bits of information including your activity level. You will then receive suggested fitness and nutrition goals. My Fitness Pal also allows you to keep track of your exercise and food intake. I especially like the feature that allows you to enter your fitness activity and calculate the number of calories burned. To receive the most accurate calorie calculation you will want to wear a heart rate monitor, (like these found here) but this is a helpful alternative. Plus, there’s an awesome app that allows you to take My Fitness Pal on the road!I recommend spending the necessary to time to get familiar with My Fitness Pal because there is an abundance of information available to help you reach your weight loss program goals.
- Spark People: The second free weight loss program is somewhat similar to My Fitness Pal: Spark People. Again, to get started, submit your height, weight, goals and activity level. You will then be able to access their portal where you can track your daily food intake, fitness activity, weight and other measurements. You can also record your progress on maintaining healthy habits such as consuming at least 8 cups of water, eating at least five fruits or veggies and getting at least 8 hours of sleep daily. Adequate water intake and sleep have been linked to healthy and maintainable weight loss. A unique feature to Spark People is that since it’s America’s largest online weight loss and fitness community you have an enormous support system to aid you in achieving your weight loss and fitness goals.
- Jillian Michaels: If you need a swift kick in the pants to get moving, you may want to check out the third weight loss program which is from Jillian Michaels. Get started by entering your height, current weight, goal weight, age, gender and email address. Then answer a few personal fitness questions and immediately you’ll receive a free weight loss program based on your information including your body shape (apple, pear or proportionate). You will then be encouraged to sign up for the 7 day free trial. After the trial period you will be charged $4 a week, but you can cancel anytime. If you are the type of person who will only stick to a health and fitness plan if you are spending your hard earned cash to do it, then this plan may be worth checking out. In my opinion, regardless if you sign up for Jillian’s program, the information available in the free customized weight loss plan is a helpful guide to get you started on the right foot.
Overall, after researching numerous free weight loss programs, I was impressed by the bounty of free content available. Obtaining the information needed and evaluating each plan was not an arduous task either. Each of the free weight loss programs listed above only took a few minutes to get started. So, what are you waiting for? With these free weight loss programs you have nothing to lose but those pesky extra pounds, so head on over and get started reaching your health and fitness goals. Good luck!
Here’s to a happy, healthy and successful 2016!
