Homemade Gummy Candy For Adults: Champagne Gummies
You could ring in the New Year with a Champagne toast… or you could whip up this homemade gummy candy made with Champagne. Read on for more!
How do you like to ring in the New Year? Do you get all gussied up and attend a swanky party? Do you chase kids around the house and then pass out before the ball drops? Personally, we like to stay in, and not only because it’s a nightmare to get a babysitter on New Year’s Eve! 🙂
To me, the crowds and cost associated with heading out ruin a lot of the fun. Instead, I like to stay home and have a quiet evening with the hubby or maybe invite some close friends and family over to enjoy delicious food and fun. (That doesn’t make me sound old, right?)
Anyway… since New Year’s Eve is like the last big hurrah of the holiday season, I always like to come up with creative culinary concoctions to celebrate with. This year, I’m whipping up several types of candy for adults including homemade gummy candy with Champagne, rummy bears, and Champagne jello shots.
After all, what would New Year’s Eve be without Champagne? 😉
This homemade gummy candy (recipe below) is my latest candy for adults find. I love how simple it is (only 3 ingredients) and how quick it is to make. You only need about 10 minutes of hands on time to whip up this homemade gummy candy, so its perfect for the hectic holiday season. In addition, this homemade gummy candy recipe can fit just about any budget since you don’t have to go for Champagne with a capital C. Even the cheaper alcohol options will taste yummy in this candy for adults.
Tip: This homemade gummy candy could also be a sweet way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. You can make them a little more festive by adding a few drops of red food coloring, using a flavored gelatin, and/or using heart shaped molds. If you’re going to be staying in for a more romantic celebration, I would pair this candy for adults with this heart shaped pizza recipe.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup Champagne
½ cup granulated sugar
6 packages unflavored gelatin
Saucepan
Dropper or measuring cup with a pour spot
Non-stick cooking spray
Silicon mold – consider getting creative with the shape such as:
Note: This homemade gummy candy recipe made 2 molds worth of gummies; however the size of your molds may impact the quantity of candy for adults made.
DIRECTIONS
1. Spray mold very lightly with non-stick cooking spray.
Tip: After spraying, pat the inside of the molds lightly with a napkin to remove any excess spray.
2. Combine Champagne, gelatin, and sugar in a large saucepan over medium-low heat, and stir frequently until the gelatin has completely dissolved (approximately 3-4 minutes).
Tip: Do not allow your mixture to reach a boiling point or even a low simmer or you will cook out all of the alcohol.
3. Remove from heat, and use a dropper to transfer the mixture to a measuring cup with a pour spout.
4. Pour mixture into mold, filling each cavity completely.
5. Place mold in refrigerator for 1 -2 hours or until gummies are completely firm.
6. Gently remove each gummy from the mold.
7. Enjoy!
Note: Your homemade gummy candy should be stored in the refrigerator. If you prefer a softer homemade gummy candy you can allow them to come to room temperature before serving.
