When A&W launched a 1/3 pound burger to compete with McDonald’s 1/4 pound burger, it failed next to McDonald’s product. Why? A market research firm found that about half of the people surveyed thought 1/3 pound was smaller than 1/4 pound, and thus not a very good deal at all (source)!

A Faction Number Line 0 to 1
Start simple with a fraction number line 0 to 1 printable. Allow your kid to get used to stand alone fractions like 1/2 and 1/3 before adding whole numbers to the mix! This is probably a great printable fractions on a number line 3rd grade option, but if your kid isn’t quite ready for fractions, no worries; later in the post I’ll share “easier” number line options you can download.

This unmarked fractions number line allows your kid to try his or her hand at labeling a number line. This is a great way make sure he or she is retaining information from math class or your educational activities at home. This printable also allows your child to practice writing fractions, which can help reinforce what he or she has learned!

Simplified Fractions on a Number Line 0 to 1
At first glance, this fractions on a number line 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade printable may seem identical to the other 0 to 1 number line with fractions above. However, it’s actually a smidge more complicated. You see, on this fractions number line all of the fractions have been simplified. (For example, 2/8 has been simplified to 1/4.)
Tip: Comparing the two 0 to 1 printables can help your kid understand equivalencies such as the fact that 2/8 and 1/4 may sound and look different but they represent the same quantity. You could even use the blank printable to have your child create an equivalent fractions number line.
Bonus: An equivalent fractions number line may be a difficult concept for your kid to understand. Other concepts he or she may struggle with are negative numbers, decimals, and inequalities. Here are printables that can help!
