Homemade Sugar Lip Scrub: Raspberry Lip Scrub
If you haven’t heard of them, lip exfoliators (a.k.a. lip scrubs) work about the same way as facial and body exfoliators. They remove old dead layers of skin from your lips, thus revealing new “kissable” lips that are smooth and soft.
Currently, in the beauty industry, lip scrubs are pretty trendy, so finding one at your local grocery store or pharmacy is no big ordeal; however, that doesn’t mean you should get your lip scrub there. Instead, I recommend using a homemade sugar lip scrub like the one in this article. Here’s why:
Your lips are sensitive. That’s why changes in moisture and weather as well as hard winds can chap them pretty easily. In addition, since your lips are right by your mouth, there’s a good chance you’ll ingest at least a little of anything you put on your lips. Think about that for a minute. If you buy a sugar lip scrub and it has chemicals in it, they may leave your lips feeling raw and inflamed. In addition, you could very well ingest those chemicals. Hence my recommendation of sticking to a homemade sugar lip scrub.
If you aren’t an expert DIYer, no worries. (Neither am I). Many homemade sugar lip scrubs, including this one, are incredibly easy to make. This particular homemade sugar lip scrub requires nothing more complicated than using your microwave for 30 seconds. Other than that, you just mix everything together and call it a day.
If you’re apprehensive about trying homemade sugar lip scrubs because you think you won’t like them, then this is definitely the recipe for you. It only requires 4 ingredients, and if you wanted you could leave the food coloring out. This means the amount of money you have to invest to try this homemade sugar lip scrub is minimal.
So let’s see… chemical free, quick and easy to make, and inexpensive? This homemade sugar lip scrub sounds like a winner to me!

This may be a dumb question, but the food coloring doesn’t come off on your lips??? I was thinking about adding some to scrubs, but wasn’t sure if it would color what I was scrubbing.
Martha says
Why there food coloring.? I though it was “all natural”
Kelli says
Hi Martha, You can buy all natural food coloring, but the coloring is merely to give the scrub the pretty pink shade. It is optional. Hope that helps. 🙂 Kelli
