Keeping a preschooler entertained is no small feat, especially when time in the great outdoors is in some way limited. No matter what you pick, it seems like something is going to suffer—you (haha), your budget, your home, their minds. However, every great once and awhile, almost as rare as a four-leaf clover, a shooting star, or a solar eclipse, the perfect activity comes along. Ladies and gentleman, I give you the free weather wheel printable.
I’ll wait for your applause to die down…. 😉
Oh, wait, you don’t know why you should be clapping? Did I get ahead of myself? Allow me to explain all the wonders of weather activities for preschoolers like this!
Of all the weather activities for preschoolers, this one is absolutely great (worthy of applause!) for several reasons. It’s free, quick, easy, and it won’t leave your home in a state that has you thinking it’d just be easier to move. On top of all that, this weather wheel preschool printable can start introducing your little one to basic scientific observation and instill some personal responsibility!
How you ask?
Let’s start with the scientific observation. Looking out the window to gauge wind, temperature, precipitation, etc. is an act of observation and critical thinking. Believe it or not, you’re engaging in science when you do it! You’re forming a hypothesis based on what you see and then you respond accordingly such as dressing warmer or taking an umbrella!
Yes, this is a simple thing, but it’s still using logic and reasoning skills … skills you probably want your kid to use as well, right? This weather craft for preschoolers can encourage them to observe and report back, thus honing their skills. Expand on this weather activity for preschoolers by having them keep a weather log and then later on counting out the number of days that were sunny vs. rainy.
Now, on to the personal responsibility I mentioned. This weather wheel preschool printable can be something you ask your child to complete daily. In other words, it will become a chore! (And if you need a way to keep track of such responsibilities in your home, grab this free printable chore chart for kids.
