A money template may seem like a weird thing to share on FreebieFindingMom; in fact, you might be thinking “Printable play money? What am I going to do with that?” Your eyes might even be wandering toward that back button, but stick with me! Because the answer to your question is so (so) much; this play money template has both fun and educational uses! 🙂
How great would it be if you could print money? Think about it, no more debt or financial anxiety. Unfortunately, that’s illegal. Very, very illegal … so I can’t help you with that. What I can help you with is a free printable play money template.
Okay, sure, this fake money template won’t help you pay the bills but it does have plenty of uses—both entertaining and educational. Oh, and this printable money template can also be motivational, but more on that in a minute. And if you think this free play money template is just for kids, think again! 🙂
Side note: No judgement here, but if you’re thinking about printing money you probably have some financial stressors in your life. Who doesn’t, right? Consider budgeting to help you take control of your finances and feel more confident! Instead of this money template, check out this free budget binder.
Now, back to this awesome play money template….
Money Template Uses for Adults
On the adult side, you can use this money template in DIY crafts projects. For example, you could use this printable fake money template to decorate a scrapbook page. Another great use would be to add it to your dream board—assuming you’re trying to visualize more financial security, success, or the like into your life.
Outside of arts and crafts, this fake money template could be used as money in a game. For instance, use it to replace all of that Monopoly money that keeps going missing. You could also use this printable money template for bets in your weekly poker game with the gals.
While there are defiantly adult uses for this money template, I think you get the most bang for your buck (haha) using it with the kiddos.

Money Template Uses for Kids
When it comes to the kids, you can use this play money template to make imaginary role-playing games more fun. For example, if your child likes to play beauty parlor, restaurant, or a myriad of other pretend games this printable money template may come in handy when it’s time to pay for your goods and services!

Another fun and educational use for this free play money template is to use it to teach your child how to count money and make change. Sometimes actually seeing change and handling it (even when it’s from a fake money template) can make the concept easier to grasp than just looking at numbers on paper.

Money Template for Motivation
Remember how at the beginning of this article I mentioned that this printable fake money template could also be used as a motivational tool? Yep, don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten! A final fantastic use for this printable play money template is to pair it with a printable chore chart for kids to inspire your kids to tackle chores without complaint. (Well, at least with less complaint!) 😉
Here’s how I’d use the play money template with a chore chart:
- Write chores on the chore chart.
- Assign each chore a monetary value. Don’t be afraid to get playful here. For example, maybe a hard tedious chore is worth $100.
- When your child completes a chore, pay him or her the designated amount using bills and coins from the fake money template.
- Have a list of “prizes” that your child can buy with their hard earned “cash.” For example, one prize might be getting an extra hour of screen time.
Keep in mind that the “prizes” don’t have to be anything expensive or extravagant! Not only does this arrangement make chores more like a game, it’ll help your child learn the value of a dollar.
