College Shopping List: Electronics
This college shopping list is supposed to include everything you could possibly need; however, you many not need everything on it. For example, if you have memory cards and USB drives there’s a good chance you’re not going to need blank CDs. Review this list before making purchases and ask yourself if you really need each item… this is especially important on electronics as some of them can be pricey.
Ultimate College Shopping List Tip: Some colleges will give you the contact info of your roommate(s) before the move in day. If so, reach out to your soon-to-be roommate(s) and coordinate who will bring what. For example, not everyone needs to bring a television or a DVD player.

College Shopping List: Closet
Unfortunately, most dorms have pretty small closets. If you’re a notorious clothes horse, you’re about to be in trouble! Look for any over the door organizers or space saving hangers that can help you squeeze every last millimeter of space out of your closet.
Ultimate College Shopping List Tip: If you’re family is going to allow you to keep a room at home and you’ll be visiting on a fairly regular basis, consider leaving some clothes there such as out of season items. You can always swap things out on one of your trips back.

2 or 3 baskets or bins for storage of off-season clothing
College Shopping List: Bathroom
The number of bathroom items on your college shopping list will probably surprise you; however, most of these items are must haves! As mentioned in a previous tip, coordinating with your soon-to-be roommates can help you save space and money on items. For example, you don’t both need to splurge on cotton balls and Tylenol.
Ultimate College Shopping List Tip: When purchasing these items, keep in mind that in some cases (depending on your dorm style) you may not be able to leave anything in the bathroom – meaning whatever you need for your daily hygiene routine you have to haul back and forth. If this is the case, you may want to avoid those jumbo bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Sure, they save you money, but they’re bulky to carry around and store.
