Cheap Maternity Clothes – Where to Find Them
Being pregnant is a wonderful thing but it isn’t always pretty. The changes that can happen to your body are a tad bit terrifying. Weight gain, stretch marks, and swollen body parts are just a few of the physical changes you have to look forward to when pregnant. These physical changes can make you feel unattractive and even unconfident which is why it is imperative to find cute maternity clothes that make you feel good about yourself and your new (but temporary) body. Chic maternity clothes do exist! I swear, and they don’t have to cost a fortune either. You can find cute yet cheap maternity clothes… as long as you know where to look.
Finding cheap maternity clothes that you love is an important part of the pregnancy process because you deserve to make yourself feel as good as possible. Be sure your maternity clothes are not only cute but comfortable because you’ll be wearing them during your pregnancy and unfortunately for some time after your little one arrives.
Note: Another reason I think it is important to find cheap maternity clothes is because this “state” your body is in is temporary. You won’t be pregnant forever. In fact, a year from now there’s a really good chance your maternity clothes will be in the Goodwill pile… so why waste a bunch of money?
Tip: Most maternity clothes will expand with you as your belly grows which makes it easier on you and your wallet. If you find maternity items that work for you, don’t hesitate to stock up. Get one in several colors. A girl needs options, right?
When it is time to start the hunt for trendy yet cheap maternity clothes, consider some of these places:
Motherhood Maternity
This store was one of my go-to places for cheap maternity clothes when I was pregnant with my son. Not only do they have a wide variety of wardrobe options but in my experience, the salespeople are incredibly helpful which is a must for first time mommies. Sign up for their Perks Savings Program to snag discounts and try products from their partners which include Bye Bye Baby, Enfamil, Shutterfly, and many more.
Target
Target has a pretty good selection of trendy cheap maternity clothes. Be sure to download the Target Cartwheel app before shopping in order to score even bigger savings. When designing your chic maternity wardrobe don’t forget undergarments! One popular brand that Target carries (that I personally love) is Gilligan & O’Malley. They have an impressive selection of quality bras (including nursing bras), underwear, PJs, and loungewear.
Online Consignment Shops
Online consignment shops like Thredup are great for finding cute but cheap maternity clothes. Plus, you get to shop from the comfort of your own home! Thredup has high quality brand name clothes that are only gently used and they start at around $5. On their site, just click “Other Shop” to find the maternity section which contains everything from tops to dresses to activewear. I have ordered clothes from Thredup many times and have always had a positive experience.
Bonus: With ThredUp you can earn referral credit by sending your friends and family members to the site. Whenever they make a purchase you earn $10 in referral cash which can be used to make those cheap maternity clothes cheaper… or even free!
When it comes time to get rid of your maternity clothes, I recommend selling them back to ThredUp (or another online consignment store) to earn some quick cash.
Old Navy
Old Navy is another place to find cheap maternity clothes that don’t force you to sacrifice style and comfort. One thing I really like about Old Navy’s cheap maternity clothes is the variety of items. They carry everything you’ll need for your new wardrobe including sweaters, jeans, jackets, tops, bottoms, and even swimsuits.
Friends and Family
Who said you have to spend your hard earned cash on maternity clothes (even cheap maternity clothes)? Borrow or inherit maternity clothes from friends and family members. Even friends you don’t see that often may be able to help out. Post on Facebook that you’re looking for cheap maternity clothes and ask for recommendations. Some people will offer up stores they like while others may offer you some free maternity swag!
Be sure to offer to pay for any maternity clothes – that’s only fair. However, many times, people (especially your friends and family) are just happy to help out and see the items go to a good home. If they won’t take cash and you feel you need to do something to say “thanks”, consider a little gift card, a lunch or dinner out, or even a cute DIY gift in a jar.
