What is a freebie?
To qualify as a freebie, something must not only be free to get, but it must also be sent (if applicable) without postage or packaging costs. While it may be a bargain without free shipping, it doesn’t count as a freebie.
Where do freebies come from?
Most free samples come from companies giving away their products as a means of promotion. Their hope is that you’ll enjoy your sample and buy the full-size products as a result.
Online freebies such as ebooks, downloads, and other resources are often given away with similar hopes that you’ll enjoy the content and decide to further explore and follow the site offering the freebie.
It’s a great way to take advantage of free stuff while deciding if you’re interested in what else is offered by the person or company.
The exception to the rule would be local freebies. Sometimes, people need to be rid of items in a hurry due to relocation or just don’t want to throw them out or have to drop them somewhere themselves. Often, they’re just given away out of the goodness of their hearts. No kidding!
Is it safe to be giving out my information?
The freebies posted on FreebieFindingMom.com undergo a thorough review to ensure the security of the site or company hosting the offer. There are scams out there on other sites, however, so do take the time to read my Free Offer Scams Alert to make sure you know what red flags to look for when browsing the internet.
Should I always grab them?
Totally tempting, but you really should first ask yourself “Will I use it?” If not, there’s really no point in signing up; not only would you be keeping the freebie from somebody else (who may really want or need it), but it’s also bad for the environment to waste something you’ll never use just because it’s free.
If, on the other hand, you know either you or someone you know would use it, then go for it!
When it comes to digital free offers, this doesn’t apply. Take it all if you want! The only harm it could do is overloading your computer hard drive, but that would likely take many thousands of downloads.
Where’s the free sample I ordered?
Free samples take anywhere from 2-12 weeks to ship, depending on the company. It’s usually in the fine print under the form you fill out to redeem. You can always contact the company directly if you have a concern, but often it’s just a matter of waiting a little longer to receive yours.
How do I make sure I never miss one?
Many of the best freebies are shortlived, usually because they are limited to a certain number. To make sure you don’t miss out, follow Freebie Finding Mom or sign up for the daily email updates! You can even get text alerts.
