How much time do you spend preparing for your family’s Thanksgiving meal? I’m not just talking about the actual cooking but the recipe research, shopping, etc. What if I told you you could cut down on the hours spent planning the meal, making a shopping list, buying ingredients, cooking, and stressing about the meal including how to time all of the other dishes properly? I bet I have your attention now!
I recently had the opportunity to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for my family and it took me about an hour (not an entire morning!) thanks to HoneyBaked Ham. Not only did I save a huge amount of time but the meal was incredibly delicious! Our Thanksgiving meal consisted of a 2.6 lb. whole sliced glazed turkey breast, 8 lb. half ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, turkey gravy, and a pumpkin pie.
This was my family’s first time experiencing HoneyBaked Ham’s signature sweet crunch glaze and let’s just say we were very impressed, even my picky two year old loved it! In fact, he was picking chunks of it off the ham before I even warmed it up. It quickly became apparent that my family was very pleased with the ham. My husband even told me, “That’s the best ham you’ve ever made!” Little did he know all I did was warm it up! Besides the taste, my favorite part about serving a HoneyBaked Ham for the holidays is how easy it was to slice and serve. I have absolutely no carving skills, so the fact that this ham came pre-cut made serving a total breeze.
The ham was not the only fan favorite, the turkey breast also received rave reviews. I can eat turkey nearly every day, but my husband has a low tolerance for turkey. In other words, he can eat it two days in a row and then he’s reached his turkey consumption limit…that was until he tasted the HoneyBaked Ham turkey breast. After trying this turkey breast my husband told me “I actually don’t mind eating these leftovers for the next week.” That’s a HUGE compliment!
If you’ve made a Thanksgiving meal before, you know that the side dishes can take a long time to prepare. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy cooking for my family, but with a two year old running around preparing an extensive meal is much more complicated than it used to be. I was happy that I could still serve our Thanksgiving side dish staples, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, in a fraction of the time by picking up HoneyBaked Ham’s Heat and Share sides. I literally had to unwrap the containers, place them in the oven, and stir them. That was it! Oh, and both fit into the oven at the same time, so I did not have to worry about which I should cook first and how to keep the other side dish warm while the second one was cooking. Easy peasy!
In addition to the mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, HoneyBaked Ham had a good selection of side dishes to choose from including stuffing, sweet potato souffle, broccoli rice casserole, macaroni and cheese, and cinnamon apples as you can see here at my local Kenwood HoneyBaked Ham store.
They even thought of dessert. After all, what Thanksgiving meal would be complete without a delicious pumpkin pie? I had no idea that HoneyBaked Ham offered desserts (they even had cheesecake!). As you can imagine this pumpkin pie did not last long in my house, in fact it was the first thing that was gone. It is mildly embarrassing that three people (one is a 2 year old) can eat an entire pumpkin pie in only a few days, but we managed to rise to the challenge. LOL!
