Shopbrain: Check Out This Online Money-Saving Tool
Who here loves a good deal? (If you’re on this site, I’m assuming you raised your hand.) I mean, why wouldn’t you want to get something you want or need and save money at the same time, right?
But there is one thing that you probably don’t love: spending tons of time tracking down deals, coupons, and promo codes. If you’re like me, you’ve probably been frustrated by the coupon in your wallet that expired before you could use it, the promo code that isn’t recognized, and the deal you missed on a different website. You want to find the best price and get the best deal–without pulling out your hair in the process.
Well, you’re going to want to hear this!
I just discovered a tool that is a game-changer for frugal moms everywhere: Shopbrain.
Shopbrain is a free shopping assistant that price checks billions of products on thousands of different sites online–like Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, Expedia, Booking.com, and many more! It couldn’t be easier: it installs as a Chrome extension in two clicks. After that, Shopbrain automatically shows you a cheaper price somewhere else on the web. In fact, 50% of the time it shows you a cheaper price! (And the good news is–if it doesn’t find a cheaper price, that means you know you’re already getting the best deal.)
Plus, Shopbrain also has a mobile app for iOS and Android! This is so useful if–like me–you’re often on the go and need to buy something using your phone.
I tested out Shopbrain to see how it worked in action. Here’s what I thought.
Shopbrain in Action
I needed more Bruce Hardwood & Laminate Floor Cleaner (64 oz. each). This is the floor cleaner we use on our hardwood floors and is the only one our builder recommended for our floors. Since I buy this cleaner on a regular basis, I wanted to use Shopbrain to see if I am really getting the best/most competitive price.
When I went to the product page on Amazon where I usually purchase the cleaner, the Shopbrain extension appeared. It informed me that Walmart had a 64 oz. bottle for $16.45. Not a bad price, but since I’m purchasing a two-pack on Amazon, it’s a better deal. It’s just $24.37 (or $12.19 each) for the two-pack on Amazon. It also showed me that eBay had a two-pack of the cleaner for $27.48.
I clicked on the Walmart link, and I loved that I could see the price chart that showed today’s price for the cleaner vs. the average price. This confirmed to me that it was a good day to order the cleaner. I also liked that Shopbrain showed me Google shopping options. I liked to be able to see the various stores that carried the cleaner, including Walmart, Amazon, eBay and Lowe’s. I think it’s useful to be able to see the in-store prices: I’ll know the store where it’s cheapest if I need to buy in person next time.
Finally, I like that Shopbrain has a social share feature so I can share the extension with my friends on Facebook or Twitter. I know a lot of families who like a good deal, and this is perfect for them!
