If you have a magazine subscription through Recyclebank please read the following:
I signed up for three magazine subscriptions through Recyclebank (Fortune, Money and Kiplinger’s). I believe they were offering a year’s subscription for each for about $2 per magazine, so I used my Recyclebank points to redeem the offer.
Fast forward a year and now I am seeing charges on my bank statement I do not recognize. After some investigation, I discovered the company behind the magazine subscriptions called New Subscription Service (NSS) has been charging my account to continue the subscriptions. I do not recall seeing a notification that the subscriptions would continue.
The charges appeared on my bank statement as “TWX recurring charges.” I will spare you of all the details, but the phone number provided on my bank statement associated with the charges went to a recording. The end result is I had to speak to my bank and they are taking action.
If you signed up for a similar offer through Recyclebank, make sure you intend on extending your magazine subscription and paying for future issues otherwise I would recommend you be proactive and alert your financial institution to prevent any “TWX recurring charges” from hitting your account.
Apparently I am not the only person who has fallen victim, this website provides numerous examples of people having the same experience with NSS http://www.ripoffreport.com. This gentleman provides further details into how to stop receiving future magazine issues and get a refund http://www.ripoffreport.com/book-magazine-publishers/nss-magazine-subscri/nss-magazine-subscription-syna-60735.htm
I have contacted Recyclebank to alert them and have yet to receive a response.
