Savings Chart Update Week 27: Husband Fixed Computer, No Need for Costly Tech Support Services = $100 in Savings
Friday morning I was starting my day as I normally do, on the computer, and for some crazy reason my Microsoft office software would not open. After wasting over an hour attempting to troubleshoot the issue I decided to take a break and call my local tech support, 1-800-HUSBAND. My husband is in no way a whiz at computers but I figured he would have more patience than I did since I had already spent over an hour attempting to fix the issue to no avail and was about to punt the computer out the window, so rather than make the issue worse I asked for assistance.
First thing Saturday morning my husband was on the computer trying to fix it, only to throw in the towel and declare that we needed to call professional tech services like Best Buy. I then proceeded to call my local Best Buy only to have them tell me it would cost $30 to diagnose the problem and upwards of $70 to actually try to fix it. Then they attempted to convince me to sign up for one of their yearly tech support plans. After hanging up the phone feeling mighty frustrated I told my husband about our options. He said Saturday afternoon he’d give it one more try. Still feeling pretty bummed about my computer issues, my husband broke into our living room pumping his fists in the air declaring, “I fixed your computer!” Hip hip hooray! Not only did he fix my computer he saved us cash as well! Double awesomeness!
This week my family saved at least $100 by not having to use professional tech support services which brings my annual savings chart total to $3,681.60.
