Savings Chart Update Week 25: Reduced Phone, Cable and Internet Bill by Asking Utility Company for Lower Rate = $133.92 in Savings
This morning via email I received our latest phone, cable and internet bill from Time Warner Cable. As I went to process the payment for this bill I noticed our monthly rate had increased by $15.78, which is a pretty substantial increase. I knew we had a couple of promotions that were expiring so I was not surprised to see the increase in price, but as you can imagine I was none too pleased. Rather than just accept this as our new monthly rate, I decided to call Time Warner Cable to see what could be done to save money on our utilities each month.
Though I sat on hold for at least twenty minutes, I did eventually connect with a customer service representative who was able to then pass me over to a promotions specialist who could FINALLY help me. I simply informed her I knew we had promotions drop off and I wanted to determine if there was anything that could be done to lower my family’s monthly bill. After being put on hold for an additional ten minutes, she returned to our conversation to inform me she could reduce our monthly bill by $11.16 and there would be no adjustment to our existing services. Yippee!!! Essentially she gave us a free converter box to drop the price. Sounds good to me!
Ultimately our monthly phone, cable and internet bill is still $4.62 higher than we were previously paying, but at least I was able to save my family an extra $11.16 per month or $133.92 a year! This brings my annual savings chart total to $3,461.60. Head over here to check out my Week 1-24 savings chart entries.
