Savings Chart Update Week 26: Proactively Contacted Cell Phone Service Provider Asking for Bill Reduction = $120 in Savings
Last week I shared how I was able to save money on my family’s phone, cable and internet bill and this week I am happy to report that I have managed to save an extra $10 off my cell phone bill each month!
Within the last year I FINALLY got a smartphone. Halleluiah! I feel like I was one of the last people on the planet to get a smartphone, so I decided to join the club and get one. I justified the added expense because I wanted to be able to take pictures and videos of my son and be able to check my email while I was away from home. I am so happy that I did because I have been able to capture precious memories I otherwise would have missed.
Unfortunately with this luxury came a much higher cell phone bill since I always had minimal coverage before (heck, I never even text messaged!). Since I am always trying to determine new ways to save my family money, I decided to contact my cell phone service provider and ask if there was anything that could be done to reduce my monthly bill. They reviewed my talk, text and data usage and determined my usage is much less than my current package provides. Within a few minutes they switched me to a lower priced package that saves me $10 each month. This $120 annual savings raised my savings chart total to $3,581.60.
This is yet another example where being proactive and contacting the service provider to see if my monthly bill could be reduced paid off. I hope this encourages you to do the same to save money for your family.
