Savings Chart Update Week 12: Signed Up for Multi Year HVAC Maintenance Service Contract = $20 in Savings
Here in Ohio it definitely feels like fall. In fact, the other night we fired up the heat in the house. I must admit I love most everything associated with fall-fall colors, moderate temperatures, and holidays being just around the corner.
The change in temperatures means one very important thing to my husband, it’s time to schedule the HVAC maintenance appointment. Twice a year we have a HVAC guy named Darrell (who I jokingly refer to as my husband’s boyfriend because they bond over technical, engineering stuff) come to our house to evaluate the heating and cooling. My husband typically signs a one year contract that includes two visits from Darrell to check to our furnace, air conditioning, circulation etc. The last time he signed up for the service contract I asked my husband, “Do they offer a better price if you sign up for multiple years?” To which he replied, “I don’t know.” What?! You did not ask for a better deal? Though I have made tremendous headway in brainwashing, I mean encouraging, my husband to embrace a life of being money savvy, he neglected to use his skills in this instance. He promised the next time Darrell returned, he would ask if we could save money by signing up for multiple years.
Today Darrell arrived for his scheduled HVAC maintenance visit, and shortly after he left our house my husband proudly text me “Saved us $60 by signing three year contract.” Yay! So proud I am. 🙂 This $20 annual savings brings my savings chart total to $3,007.39. You can check out my Week 1-11 savings chart entries below.
