I do lots of videos here on my blog, which means that my smile gets seen by a lot of people. For that reason, I want my smile to be pearly and white!
If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried a variety of whitening toothpastes. Some live up to their name. Others…not so much.
Recently, I’d been thinking of trying out this new “activated charcoal” trend that I’d seen all over the Internet (especially Pinterest). But I was put off by two things: the GIANT mess it creates, and the amount of extra time it requires.
First, let’s talk about the mess: while activated charcoal whitens teeth, it (funny enough) turns everything else black. If you happen to get it on your clothes, shoes, tile, or grout, it stains. Yikes! (As a mom of a messy kid, this is a bathroom disaster just waiting to happen.) Second, let’s talk about the time: other bloggers who have tried activated charcoal describe a process that is a lot longer and with a lot more steps than traditional tooth brushing. Think needing two toothbrushes, having to brush your teeth, then letting the charcoal sit for an additional 2 minutes, then having to clean up a messy sink. You’re looking at close to 10 minutes just to brush your teeth! While it’s possible to do that sort of routine for a few days, I don’t think it’s something I’d want to keep up in the long term.
After reading all that, you might think that I decided not to try activated charcoal. Not true! Instead, I just went with the far easier and cleaner—but no less effective—option: Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy with Charcoal.
I’ve always been a fan of Crest’s 3D White toothpastes, so I had high expectations for this new toothpaste. I wanted it to really whiten my teeth, and I didn’t want to deal with a foamy black mess in my bathroom.
Without further ado, let’s get into my thoughts!
As you can see in this picture, this toothpaste is formulated with charcoal, giving it a gray stripe. When I brushed, the foam started out grey and then got lighter in color. I really liked that Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy with Charcoal acts like a traditional toothpaste: I brushed normally for 2 minutes, spit, and rinsed. That’s it! There was no breaking open tablets, no spilling black powder all over the bathroom counter, no black teeth to rinse, no extra toothbrush needed, and no toweling down of the sink.
At the end, I’m happy to report that my teeth looked whiter and brighter and that my mouth felt fresh and minty clean for hours. The best part, for me, is that the toothpaste includes the whitening power of activated charcoal while keeping the benefits of regular toothpaste: namely, strengthening enamel, freshening breath, and protecting against future cavities!
For those of you—like me—who are looking to try activated charcoal to whiten surface stains, I highly recommend Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy with Charcoal! It’s definitely a #BetterWaytoCharcoal, so head to your local Walmart store and give it a try today!
