What are some of your favorite things about being a mom? The kisses? The hugs? The incontinence? Nope! Not the last one. Many of us moms experience some level of incontinence at times. Mine usually kicks in when I am exercising.
I try to workout four days a week and one of my favorite workout classes is a kickboxing class on Tuesday mornings. Though I love the class because it is a great workout, the music is awesome, and the instructor is very motivating, I always dread when the instructor makes us jump in the air because I know there is a high probability I will experience incontinence.Another time I experience this issue is when running outside. One time, right after giving birth to my son, I went for a run outside. During my run my legs began sweating profusely. My initial thought was “I am really rocking this run! Way to go, Kelli!” Not so fast, Kelli, that was not sweat. Ugh! This experience has caused me to run on treadmills now instead of outside because I don’t seem to have the same issue when on a treadmill plus I can head to the bathroom if I need to.
As busy moms it is hard enough to stay motivated and find time to workout, we don’t need another reason not to exercise especially one as embarrassing as this. To help you stay motivated to live a healthy lifestyle, consider using free printables like my free printable fitness journal, free printable food journal, and free printable weight loss chart. These freebies are a great way to keep yourself on track and making progress toward your fitness goals.
In addition to encouraging you to use these free printables, I would remind you that working out does not have to involve going to the gym. You can get a great workout playing with your kids at the park or at home, cleaning the house, and in a variety of other daily activities. Plus YouTube is loaded with lots of free workout videos you can download too.
After my son was first born, I would pop in a workout DVD when he napped. If he woke up early then my workout would be cut short, but at least I tried to get some level of exercise in several days a week. I recommend trying to find pockets of time to exercise at least a few days a week even if it is just for 15-20 minutes. Every little bit helps.
