Break out of Your Food Funk with Mocktails and Wok Wednesday
I have nothing against cooking. In fact, staying in for dinner is a great way to save money and spend quality time with the family. However, as a super busy mom it can be quite challenging to find the time to whip up something authentic and delicious… especially when you have a picky little eater on your hands! 🙂
Unfortunately, I find myself turning to the same tried and true recipes again and again. It seems like my family is frequently stuck in a culinary rut. While there’s nothing wrong with having some go-to family favs, a food funk is no fun at all. That’s why I’ve set out to discover some frugal and easy ways to mix things up.
And now, there’s something I’m really excited about…Wok Wednesday.
Wok Wednesday is about trying authentic Asian food but, more than that, it’s about having an adventure from the comfort of your own home.
Sure, you could concoct your own dishes for Wok Wednesday and I definitely encourage you to explore different recipes, but you don’t have to spend hours searching for recipes, purchasing ingredients, and cooking.
Thanks to P.F. Chang’s Home Menu, you can enjoy Wok Wednesday even if you are juggling a double booked schedule. P.F. Chang’s Home Menu offers restaurant-quality authentic Asian food that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
P.F. Chang’s Home Menu offers a slew of quick and yummy options made with authentic made-from-scratch sauces and vibrant veggies including:
- Pork dumplings
- Beef and broccoli
- Orange chicken

- Chicken fried rice
- Mongolian beef
The meals are inspired by the P.F. Chang’s Bistro and were co-developed with the restaurant’s co-founder Philip Chiang, so you know you’re going to get a dinner that’ll tempt you to lick your plate clean! (Hopefully that wasn’t just me…. 🙂 )
Bonus: With all of the different P.F. Chang’s Home Menu options to choose from, your family will be able to enjoy Wok Wednesday again and again without getting stuck in another food funk!
For our first Wok Wednesday we went with Orange Chicken. The orange chicken is made with real orange peel. The ingredients combine for a tasty caramelization of the sauce which had us all scraping the pan for a little more. While a wok isn’t actually required to make this dish, don’t be afraid to break out of your comfort zone and give it a try!
The orange chicken had a little crunch and just the right amount of zest. Even my picky eating son, Ian, enjoyed it. We paired it with some broccoli.
I loved how fast and simple the cooking was. Plus, there was very little cleanup afterwards which is always a bonus given how fast the hubby disappears when the sink is full!
To make the evening even more fun, I decided to do something different and make a “mocktail.” I thought the fizzy slightly tart cherry Moscow mule would complement the orange chicken nicely, and I was not disappointed. The recipe is below if you’d like to shake up your work week with it. 😉
