Amwell: The Doctor Is In… Anytime, Anywhere
Unfortunately, illness and accidents aren’t considerate enough to confine themselves to regular office hours, especially when it comes to kiddos. How many times have you been woken up in the middle of the night by a little one with a nasty cough or stomach bug? How many times has your Saturday afternoon come to a screeching halt when your child takes a nasty spill off of a bike or playground equipment? Yep, it has happened to all of us (more than once!). So, what’s a mom to do? Do you rush to the nearest urgent care or emergency room racking up HUGE bills or try to wait it out until the doctor’s office reopens in the morning?
The answer? Neither! You schedule an urgent care appointment with Amwell.
Amwell is the nation’s largest telehealth company. They allow you to connect with board-certified doctors 24/7/365. Yep, you read that right. You can now access doctors anytime, anywhere. Well… anywhere with an Internet connection. (Which is just about everywhere nowadays!) 🙂
Amwell doctors can assist with your urgent care needs.
This video will give you an overview of the Amwell service and how to make an appointment.
Pretty simple right?
I recently had a need to use Amwell for my son. I noticed one day after school he kept picking at his ear. I asked him if it hurt to which he reluctantly replied “Yeah, it is bothering me.” My son has had ear infections in the past, so he knew that if his ear was bothering him there was a chance he’d near ear drops which he despises.
Instead of making a doctor appointment and my son missing school the next day, having the ability to call Amwell and receive medical advice instantly was so convenient.
Amwell was able to remind me of the symptoms to look for with an ear infection including increased ear pain, ear discharge, fever and trouble sleeping. They were also able to let me know the remaining drops I had from Ian’s last ear infection would be wise to use again to prevent any potential infection from getting worse.
With busy lives and hectic schedules, being able to receive quick, efficient and helpful advice is priceless. Not only did it mean I didn’t have to rearrange my schedule the next day and take Ian to the doctor, but it also meant he’s was back to his normal crazy self and feeling better faster.
Ian is typically a child who is rarely stationary unless he’s shoveling food into his mouth (see picture from Hershey Park this summer for demonstration) ;), so he’s not one to take the advice “rest and take it easy” well. 🙂
An Amwell visit costs just $69! However, for a limited time, you can save 25% on your first visit with an exclusive coupon (more on that in a minute)!
By the way, here’s a picture of Ian after his basketball game the weekend after his ear issues. I’m so glad he was back in action so quickly!
Do you think Amwell could help you and your family out? If so, I really encourage you to give the service a try. They have SOOO much to offer and at such a good price.
If you do try Amwell I’d love to hear what you think. Please share in the comments. 🙂
