If you don’t live in New Jersey please be aware that at this time you can not have an actual video visit through Convenient Care Now.Your head is throbbing; you can feel your pulse thudding behind your burning eyes. Drainage is running down the back of your throat, which feels like it’s lined with shards of glass. You’ve begun to wonder if it’s possible to drown in your own snot. In fact, you’ve Googled it just to be safe. The act of walking 5 feet from the bed to the bathroom feels like a feat of Herculean strength.
Tell me, when you feel like that, what’s the last thing you want to do?
For me, it’s getting dressed, fighting traffic, and then sitting in a crowded germ-infested waiting room for 30-60 minutes to see a doctor.
And guess what? I don’t have to… thanks to Convenient Care Now.
Convenient Care Now is a system created by Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey that allows you to speak with a board certified physician day or night from your home. All you need is a video enabled computer, tablet, or smart phone.
With Convenient Care Now you can always speak with a doctor. You don’t have to worry about not being able to get an appointment or it being outside of normal office hours. The Convenient Care Now physicians can help you with a variety of medical issues including:
- Sinus infection
- Sore throat
- Urinary tract infection
- Sprains and strains
- Respiratory infection
Also keep in mind that Convenient Care Now can connect you with general physicians.
The first time I used the Convenient Care Now system, I was hooked. First off, it’s super easy to set up an account (just 3 steps). Seriously, it’s easier to set up an account with Convenient Care Now then to make an appointment with your regular physician.
Once you sign up you aren’t automatically matched with just any physician. No, Convenient Care Now makes an effort to match you with a doctor who is a good fit for your needs. I went to the “Home” tab, clicked on “Get Started”, and then answered a few questions about my symptoms (in this case allergies).
Though I have never been tested for seasonal allergies, I suspect I have them, and let me tell you, they’re no fun. I was hoping to find additional information about seasonal allergies and treatment options without having to carve a bunch of time out of my schedule, drag the little one to a doctor’s office, and pay an office visit copay. Convenient Care Now worked around my schedule and my first visit was free so it worked out perfectly.

I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly a doctor contacted me via my computer after I answered the questions. It was just a wait of about 5, maybe 10, minutes. I had been a little concerned about the quality of the video consult but everything was perfect. The video conference felt personal and I never felt rushed.
The doctor was very knowledgeable about allergies. He recommended several over-the-counter medications and assured me that taking these medications daily is perfectly fine. He said it’s best to try this approach first before going to a specialist to be tested for allergies.
When my visit was over, I received a doctor visit summary in my Convenient Care Now email account (see image above). This document provided details about our call along with a plan on how to treat my seasonal allergies, which was super helpful. When I visit my regular physician I sometimes feel like I get so much information but since nothing is written down, I don’t remember it all or remember it incorrectly later on.
I would definitely use Convenient Care Now again, especially if I have a medical issue late at night or on the weekend. Convenient Care Now would also be very useful if you need medical advice when you’re out of town or on vacation, so I’ll definitely be keeping my account credentials handy!
The only real downfall is that the full product is currently only available in New Jersey, so if you’re in another state (like me), you won’t have the same experience. For example, the physicians can’t write prescriptions to individuals outside New Jersey.
However, the Convenient Care Now service is convenient, quick, high-quality, and very affordable. While your first consultation is free, subsequent visits are only $49 which is roughly a health insurance copay for many of us. So, grab your promo code (CARENOW1) and get your health questions answered now.
